Time to Sit Down and Listen

I took a leap today.  I applied to be a member of the Chief Architect Forum.

This is not a new group. The CEF has been around for many years and some of the most respected and visible architects in the field are members.

For many years, I’ve been presenting ideas and experiences in my field of Enterprise Architecture and CIO Advisory.  Most of that time, the direction that information was flowing was outward.  I learned it and now I’m sharing it.

However, I’ve found myself benefiting more from listening than speaking.  I wanted to be part of a group where I was under no obligation to be the smartest person in the room.

There are dozens of topics that I’m qualified to speak on.  I have been the keynote speaker at multiple conferences over the years, as well as a presenter, sharing ideas around enterprise design, agility, and governance.

However, there are ten times as many topics that I want to hear from other experts in the field.  And it would be good to know some of the folks in this field… people I can call on when I need a hand.

So I joined the Chief Architect Forum.  If you have led a team of five or more architects in your past, why don’t you sign up as well?  I’d love to meet you.
